Job Title: Finance and Grants Officer

Location: Bega, NSW - South East Arts office

Employment Type: Part-time (4 days per week)

Salary: $36 - $42 per hour plus super (commensurate with experience)


About South East Arts

South East Arts (SEA) is the leading Regional Arts Development Organisation (RADO) for the South East NSW region, supporting artists and arts organisation, cultural projects, and community initiatives. We work across three diverse local government areas (Snowy Monaro Regional Council, Bega Valley Shire Council and Eurobodalla Shire Council), fostering arts and cultural development while ensuring accessibility for all communities.

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic team player and experienced Finance and Grants Officer to join our small but dedicated team. This role is crucial in ensuring the financial health of SEA by managing daily financial operations, grant administration, and compliance. You will work closely with the Executive Director and broader team to provide financial oversight, manage reporting, and assist in securing funding that supports the arts sector in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with general administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the organisation.

  • Perform daily bookkeeping tasks, including data entry, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.

  • Process payroll and maintain accurate employee records.

  • Process accounts payable and receivable invoices in a timely manner.

  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and management reports.

  • work with our auditor to ensure accounting standards are met.

  • Assist in the preparation and acquittal of grants, ensuring adherence to funding agreements.

  • Asset management.

  • Identify, apply for, and manage grants ranging from small Club Grants to larger Government and NGO funding.

  • Support the execution and reporting requirements of secured grants.

  • Build and maintain relationships with corporate sponsors, funding bodies, and local communities.

  • Assist with follow-up on sponsorship opportunities to maximise funding and partnerships.

  • Provide financial information and advice to the SEA team to support decision-making.

  • Work with the Executive Director and board to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

  • Act as an ambassador for growth, helping to secure financial sustainability and expansion.


Selection Criteria:

Essential:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience in Accounting or Bookkeeping, preferably in a small to medium-sized business.

  • Experience in preparing BAS preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills.

  • Data input experience.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in the arts, not-for-profit, or grant-funded organisations.

  • Familiarity with government grant processes and financial compliance requirements.

  • Knowledge of financial management in regional and community organisations.
