Four Winds Presents:
Race Against Time
In the days leading up to his death, Australian Frederick Kelly lay in the basement of a bombed-out farmhouse in France. Despite being huddled around the stump of a candle he wrote compositions of the highest quality.
‘He writes music out perfectly—there are no mistakes. “The manuscript is exquisite,’ says Flowers of War director Chris Latham ‘It’s so well-made. It’s inexplicable to me how he could do it without a piano.’
Two weeks later, Kelly was killed in action.
Don’t miss this rare offering encompassing Australian music, sport, and WWI history. Race Against Time is a gripping and moving story about the life of Australian Frederick Septimus Kelly – Gold medal Olympian rower, decorated soldier, renowned pianist and brilliant composer – who’s life was tragically cut short by the Great War.
