HOME is a unique new work created by Gabrielle Rose from fLiNG Physical Theatre in collaboration with composer/performer, David Hewitt, theatre maker and choir leader, Dan Scollay and local songwriter/performer Heath Cullen.
The work features a dynamic cast of community performers ranging in ages from 14-80yrs. The cast joined the project through an open audition held last year, and together they have been working collaboratively to devise scenes that paint an eclectic picture of ‘Home’ life. Research behind this show has come from interviews with community members and tapping into life experiences of the cast & creative team.
HOME also features members of the Bega and Bermagui choirs, under leadership of Dan Scollay. ‘It has been wonderful to have the choir on board, they bring a new dimension to the work’ says Rose.
Local singer songwriter Heath Cullen is also performing live in the show, and has written a new song specifically for the work. In 2015 Heath conducted a song writing workshop with members of the community based on theme of home, and has created the song from this workshop.
HOME has been in development since mid 2015 and has been supported by the Regional Arts Fund, Arts NSW, Australia Council and South East Arts through the Expand Program.
Featuring original music, interesting characters and a curious insight into aspects of life, HOME is a touching performance you won’t want to miss.
