Right now we should be launching Giiyong Festival 2020 and announcing exciting headline acts for the program. However, the festival has been postponed and will now be held in September 2021. Along with our presenting partners Twofold Aboriginal Corporation, we have reluctantly taken the decision as the impact of Covid19 continues to create uncertainty. One of the key components of Giiyong Festival is the involvement and engagement with our regional Aboriginal communities to create content for the festival program. This is achieved through a range of engagement projects in the lead up to the event. Working with schools and community organisations, the planned projects using music, video, theatre, visual arts and craft will be rescheduled for later this year and into 2021. Both South East Arts and Twofold Aboriginal Corporation will continue to look for ways to support Aboriginal artists in the south east during this difficult period.
