Four Winds has been nominated for the 2017 Art Music Award for Excellence in a Regional Area for the Four Winds 2016 Easter Festival directed by Paul Dean, Australian composer and clarinetist.

“We are really excited to be short listed amongst such distinguished other nominees” says David Francis, Four Winds Executive Director, “It’s fantastic that Paul Dean’s 2016 Four Winds Festival, which embraced a major commitment to Australian repertoire being commissioned, programmed and performed as well as supporting the next generation of artists and bringing in new audiences to experience the beautiful Four Winds site and all that our South Coast region has on offer.”

Other finalists in the category include Ngarukuruwala for Ngiya awungarra (I Am Here, Now), ethnographic recordings of Tiwi song material, Primal Dance Company for modern dance work, Footmarks and Tura New Music for their 2016 Regional Program.

The 2017 Art Music Award winners will be announced at a gala event in Sydney on Tuesday 22 August at the City Recital Hall. Staged jointly by APRA AMCOS and the Australian Music Centre (AMC). The Australian Music Centre (AMC) is the national service organisation dedicated to the promotion and support of both the art form of music and the creators and performers of contemporary classical, improvised jazz, experimental music and sound art in Australia.
