Hidden, Art Exhibition

Stephanie McClory is a regional based painter and the 2018 winner of the Eurobodalla Art Prize category of the long running, biennial Basil Sellers Art Prize. Stephanie celebrates her first solo exhibition, Hidden which is an extension of her award winning work, Some days are rough.

Stephanie’s practice uses hyper-realism and elements of chiaroscuro techniques to explore vulnerability and thoughtful moments of contemplation in her subjects. The viewer is given a glimpse into a private moment, the aim of which is to suspend the emotional state of her sitter, while evoking an emotional response in the viewer.

Anchored in monochromatic surroundings, subjects are absorbed in their own intimacy, which is achieved through a layered manifestation of light with a scale and quality alluding to renaissance or noir cinema.

The exhibition will be held at The Basil Sellers Exhibitions Centre (The Bas) which adjoins the Moruya library on the corner of Campbell and Vulcan Street. The exhibition will officially open on Sat 29th August and run until Sun 4th of October, Tuesday – Sundays 10am-4pm. In the event of closure related to COVID 19, this exhibition will be available to view online.
