The Festival of the Face is a community celebration of the creative industries, the arts, cultural activities and innovation across the Bega Valley Shire, those people who do ordinary and extraordinary things to make the Shire such a dynamic place.
An initiative of the Bega Chamber of Commerce and Industry to coincide with the biennial Shirley Hannan National Portrait Award, the Festival celebrates the FACES of the Bega Valley Shire, with every town and village showcasing their own unique FACE.
We will be celebrating existing and emerging talent through with the Bega Youth ‘FACE IT’ Exhibition. Works created by local Preschool’s Child Care Centres and Primary Schools at the Bega Commemorative Civic Centre Foyers – Saturday 10 November and a Twilight Christmas Market on 16 November.
There is a trail of exhibitions throughout the shire during the festival including at Spiral Gallery in Bega is hosting the South East Regions Artist Network exhibition from 9 November. A pop up exhibition in the Sapphire Market Place will feature Vickie McCredie’s renowned You’N Me Exhibitions (10 -23 November).
The shop fronts of Bega and Bermagui will feature works of regional artists in the Shopfront Art trail in each of these centres, just look for the signs. While the professional Galleries – Narek in Bermagui and Ivy Hill at Wapengo are well worth the drive along the Bermagui Tathra road and don’t forget the Beautiful Four Winds site.
Continue on through Tathra, stopping to see their offerings and then through to Merimbula and Pambula – there really is something to see across the Bega Valley Shire.
The 3rd Festival of the Face will run from the 10th to the 24th of November.
