Aurelia Monfort is an actor, director, object theatre practitioner, writer and all round creative spirit from France. She is the inaugural Cobargo Village Artist, a new initiative from the creative community of Cobargo. The focus of Aurelia’s work is how we construct our identities and how understanding your identity helps to create peace. The Village Artist comes from overseas to live and work in the Cobargo Community for three months from February to April.
The Village Artist’s role is to encourage members of the Cobargo Community to explore ideas and creative techniques to strengthen the community. A key element to this is the outsider perspective the Village Artist brings from a different culture. The project has been entirely generated and so far funded from the Cobargo Community. The Village Artist Project is a community arts initiative. This means everyone is invited to participate and to meet with and work with the Village Artist to produce a quality public artwork.
The project has so far been covered by Sapphire Mediated Resolutions, Connor Ross Sounds, The Cobargo Community Association Inc (known as The Bowerbird Op Shop) The Yuin Folk Club Inc, and some donations from community members. Promotional support has also been provided by The Creative Workers and Producers of Cobargo Inc (known as the Cobargo Creators) and The Triangle Community Newspaper. The group is still seeking financial and in – kind support for the project. If you would like to offer support to this project please contact the Project Co Ordinator Suzy McKinnon email: firstname.lastname@example.org or mob 0487 813 490
