Tanja Riese
Artist Statement I am interested in working on paper and have explored this using printmaking, drawing and collage. Inspiration for my work is found in the patterns and forms that occur in the natural world as well as those created by human activity. My recent work investigates connection to environment, drawing from tiny objects found on walks. Biography Tanja studied Visual Art at Sydney College of the Arts before completing a Graduate Diploma at Canberra School of Art. During extended travels through Europe in the mid and late 1980's she took courses in Experimental Drawing at the Central St. Martins Art School in London and was a guest student at the Fachochschule in Köln. Since the early 90’s Tanja has lived and worked on the far south coast of NSW. She is a founding member of the artist run co-operative Spiral Gallery in Bega and has exhibited work regularly since 1985 at galleries in NSW, the ACT and Victoria. Her work is represented in public and private collections including The Australian National Gallery, Canberra College of Advanced Education and Queen Victoria Museum in Tasmania.
