Of great importance when creating my work is the use of vibrant colour, naïve depictions of subject matter, and stylised form. I like to load my images with meanings that aren’t immediately obvious, and thus the title of each image is important to the creation of a narrative in my work. I am focusing more on creating work that is visually beautiful but provides a commentary on topical issues in our society.
I have been creating art for 19 years. I began my formal training when I was still at high school completing certificates in Still Life and Life Drawing. I went on to complete a Bachelor of Fine Art at the Queensland College of Art in 1997 where I majored in sculpture. Since that time I have been involved in exhibiting and selling my work in a variety of locations. I have had my work printed on clothing and sold in retail stores, had fashion parades showing off my wearable art, and sold work via galleries and exhibitions. I have moved through a variety of mediums creating functional art (objects of beauty that you can use), paintings and am now focusing on drawing.
