Artist Statement
Domestic forms are part of day to day living which have a strong connection to most of my work. With the porcelain I am able to connect the inside to out by use of coloured clay. This allows movement to be expressed in the thrown piece. The making of varies patterned logs joined to form pieces bring the same connection as the thrown work. Carving depths exposes the porcelain’s translucent variations. This enables added interest within the design especially on lamps. The whiteness, contrast of colour and smoothness of the polished form bring these pieces together for me.
