“4 Points Of View” – a group of local Cooma photographers, Brian Hart, Judy Goggin and Tony Sergo enrolled in a Digital Photography Course at Cooma TAFE in 2009. Opening Saturday 1 June at 3.00pm.
The lecturer on the course was Paul McIver an accomplished photographer whose work has been published extensively in newspapers, magazines and television around the world. Paul also has an extensive background in the film industry including working on “Mad Max 3”. He was a finalist in the 75th Caltex Art Prize back in 2011.

Peter Denahy (born 1972) is an entertainer from Yackandandah, Victoria, Australia. He sings and plays guitar, percussion, mandolin, mouth harp, accordion and fiddle. His most successful song was "Sort of Dunno Nothin'" which was a hit on YouTube and made the ARIA Top 100. It was on his Picture In A Frame album which made the top 30 of the ARIA Country Albums chart.

Past/Present features two short plays that tell stories of the region’s local history from the coast to the mountains, before and after the Second World War.

This Saturday talk by Professor Mark McKenna from the University of Sydney will link the findings of his book Looking for Blackfellas Point: an Australian history of place with the exhibition in the Mechanics Institute Hall next door on Price’s Café (see details below). This month, Four Winds welcomes the Auric Quartet to the Bega region as part of a new partnership with the Australian National Academy of Music and Four Winds Festival. Four Winds has facilitated this new venture in response to requests from local musicians and offers it as part of its outreach program.

A new exhibition from 17 to 26 May in Moruya on the south coast of NSW will honour the unusual role that a café played in 1950s and 60s Australia in the reconciliation process. Inspired by stories told to an Aboriginal artist and with words by celebrated Australian author and historian Mark McKenna, the Price’s Café exhibition is presented by South East Arts, which is chaired by former Sydney Festival Director Lindy Hume. In early May South East Arts is hosting a visit by internationally renowned artist, Antony Gormley as part of an exciting new project - a major sculpture installation in the Snowy Mountains in 2015. Most famous for his sculptures of the human form, Gormley is having a three day whirl-wind tour and site inspection of the Snowy Mountains and an opportunity to meet local community stakeholders and state organisations from the arts, tourism, environment and education sectors.

writing weekend intensive with Sydney Playwright Pete Malicki on Saturday 18th
and Sunday 19th May in Merimbula.

The screening is kindly hosted by the Churchill family proceeds after costs to the Batemans Bay Historical Society to digitise the photographic archives. Jan Ward is a local artist who has taught art for the past 27 years. After a very successful workshop in February, Jan is happy to offer another workshop in May! The 2-day workshop will explore various watercolour techniques with examples and demonstrations. Participants can choose projects to develop these skills.

Sponsorship for a Grand Piano for the Jindabyne Memorial Hall keeps flowing in and Antoinette Braeder and Carole Thomas have been overwhelmed with generous donations towards the Grand Piano project.
Some of the most recent contributions to this worthy community venture have come from Lake Jindabyne Irish Cultural Festival Committee (pictured) who donated $300 (including a pledge of ongoing support for upkeep and tuning), $1,000 from Woolworths Jindabyne; and this April, our local NSW Member for Monaro, John Barilaro has very generously made a personal donation of $1,000.

Since 1996 Janet DeBoos has had an increasing engagement with ceramics manufacture in China. She works with, and within that industry to examine how artists might function in ceramic factories and how historic cultural specificity in ceramics has permeable borders that become sites for investigations into an imagined world.

In 1949, Eden’s fishing industry faced economic ruin. The two main fishing species of barracouta and salmon failed to arrive along the coast, leaving local fishermen wondering what to do next. Tuna was the answer. Thousands of tons of tuna could be found close to shore during the annual migration to spawning grounds off Tasmania. Fishermen at Bermagui claimed there were so many that they ‘could walk from their boats to the shore on the fishes’ backs’.

Healing Our Spirit is a new an exhibition of paintings by Aboriginal people in custody to open at the Bundian Way Gallery on 9 March.
The new Bundian Way gallery in Delegate opened in early December 2012. Well over 100 people attended the launch and numerous others came and went over the weekend. It was a colourful event with visitors from all over the region, including a number from Canberra. Reflections is a new exhibition at the Eden Killer Whale Museum highlights the historical photographic collection of William Thomas Hall. His passion for photography has resulted in one of the best pictorial legacies of the region.
